When the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) scheduled a strike vote earlier this year, many viewed the move as another tactic orchestrated by the union to prevent Gov. Bruce Rauner from imposing his last, best offer.
A collaboration between the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce and Southern Illinois University has produced “This is Carbondale,” a 136-page book commemorating the college town’s community atmosphere.
“Today we come together to honor the brave men and women who fought for their country during the Gulf War,” Erica Jeffries told those gathered at the Illinois State Capitol recently. “Every service member who fought relentlessly during this war are true heroes.”
Travis Washington, a speech communication senior from Chicago, won the 2017 Alexander Lane Internship from Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s (SIUC) Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, the school announced recently.
