Southern Illinois outfielder Kristian Sprawling has been recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the League office on Tuesday. This marks Sprawling's first weekly accolade from The Valley and is the third such honor for the Salukis this season.
Sprawling played a crucial role in leading the Salukis to their second consecutive weekend sweep. He achieved a team-high .750 batting average, going 6-for-8 at bat, along with a 1.125 slugging percentage and a .818 on-base percentage. Throughout the three games, he consistently delivered multiple hits, including a home run during the series opener.
The player from Olive Branch, Mississippi contributed six RBIs over the weekend, with three coming in Saturday's victory. His performance also included six hits, three runs scored, two walks, one hit-by-pitch, and three stolen bases.
Looking ahead, the Salukis are set to face Western Kentucky on Tuesday, March 11 at 5 p.m. CT in Bowling Green.
