Southern Illinois University baseball team claimed their eighth consecutive victory with a 3-0 win over Lindenwood University at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles. Pitcher Tyler Timmerman was instrumental in the victory, maintaining a strong presence on the mound throughout the game.

An O'Fallon, Missouri native, Timmerman's performance was noteworthy. He retired the first 12 batters in order and struck out six across eight innings, allowing only two hits. He threw 15 first-pitch strikes, showing a high level of control and precision. Lindenwood managed to get their first baserunner with a double in the fifth inning, but they couldn't capitalize on the opportunity.

Offensively, Southern Illinois took advantage of the fifth inning to score all their three runs. Kaleb Hall began the inning with a triple, then Matt Schark, a senior, brought him home with a single. Gabe Petrucelli was hit by a pitch, subsequently scoring on a Michael Mylott sacrifice fly. The inning ended with Cecil Lofton's RBI single.

Lindenwood faced challenges in generating offense, recording only two hits in the game against Timmerman's pitching. In the ninth inning, after the Lions worked a leadoff walk, relief pitcher Sam Frizzi took over. Frizzi finalized the game with a groundout double play and flyout, achieving his fourth save of the season.

For Lindenwood, Kris Alcorn, who recorded a loss, allowed three runs during the Salukis' offensive burst in the fifth inning. He completed the game with three strikeouts and two walks.

Southern Illinois University is scheduled to host Missouri State at Itchy Jones Stadium for their upcoming games.
