City of Carbondale Public Library Board of Trustees met June 14.

Here is the agenda provided by the board:

Call to order.

Roll call.

Introductions, audience and visitors. Visitors are asked to introduce themselves at this time and present any issues they wish to discuss. Visitors wishing to address specific agenda items will be granted two to five minutes at the discretion of the President, not to exceed a total of twenty minutes. The Library Board may cut short any comments that are irrelevant, repetitious, or disruptive. (Id. at 1425-26).

President’s report.

1. Passing of the proverbial baton from past Library Director Diana Brawley Sussman to new Library Director Jennifer Robertson.

2. Election of Trustee officers (President and Vice President) to begin service July, 2023.

Secretary’s report.

1. Approval of May 10, 2023 Board meeting minutes.

2. Approval of Board meeting minutes of interviews for the Library Director position: May 12, 15, 16, 2023, and May 19, 2023 meeting to select the Library Director.

Correspondence and communications.

1. Legal opinion from Carbondale City Attorney’s Office: “Due to libraries formed under the Local Library Act not levying their own taxes, the Decennial Committees on Local Government Efficiency Act does not apply to them.”

2. Public Library Per Capita grant award letter: $32,239.08 awarded for Fiscal Year 2023.

Financial report.

1. Approval of bills payable up to and including bills due June16, 2023 to July 15, 2023.

2. Acceptance of the financial report for May, 2023.

Librarian’s report.

1. Building and grounds maintenance.

2. Intergovernmental agreement with District 95 has been renewed.

3. Vote to appoint FOIA/OMA officer(s).

4. Review minutes from closed sessions.

5. Other.
