Former state university employee Clover paid in $44K to pension fund, could collect $563K in retirement

Former state university employee Elizabeth Clover, who retired in April 2019, saved $43,545 toward a pension over 20 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Clover would collect as much as $562,912, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Carbondale Reporter.

The projection assumes Clover received $11,832 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Clover will have already received $49,502 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
