Analysis: Carbondale administrators rank 594th in state for average pay

Administrators in Carbondale Community High School District 165 earn an average of $90,347 per year, ranking 594th out of 864 districts in the state, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2018 average is 5% higher than in 2014 and 11.2% lower than in 2009. District administrators make 15.8% less than the state average of $107,279.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Jackson County school district enrolled 1009 students in 2017-18. There is an average of 112 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 181 to 1.
