Report: Johnston City spent $8,077 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Johnston City Community Unit School District 1 is down 4 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Williamson County school district spent $8,420 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,077 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1231 to 1118.

Johnston City's spending in 2016-17 was 38 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
