Report: Elverado spent $10,367 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Elverado Community Unit School District 196 is up 13 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Jackson County school district spent $9,140 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,367 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 532 to 418.

Elverado's spending in 2016-17 was 20 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
