Report: Murphysboro spent $10,875 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 is up 4 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Jackson County school district spent $10,503 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,875 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 2029 to 2175.

Murphysboro's spending in 2016-17 was 16 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
