Illinois last year recorded a homicide rate of 9.1 per 100,000 residents, compared to the U.S. rate of 6.5 per 100,000 and the state’s 5.5 rate a decade earlier, according to newly released FBI crime data.
There was one offender convicted of a crime against justice living in Williamson County released on parole during the third quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Carbondale Reporter.
