Murphysboro HS shares athletic achievements and updates for September

Murphysboro High School, part of Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 in Jackson County, Illinois, shared updates on its athletic teams through several posts on X (formerly Twitter) in early September 2025.

Later that evening, Murphysboro High School congratulated its boys golf team for recent victories. The post stated: "Congratulations to our Boys Golf Team on wins over Anna-Jonesboro, Marion, and Carbondale tonight! https://t.co/L62yee6Umx" (September 5, 2025).

In another update posted shortly after midnight on September 5, the school highlighted the performance of its boys soccer team. The message read: "Red Devils Boys Soccer Team remains undefeated in the SIRR Conference with a huge 3-2 victory on the road at always-tough Carterville. Devils improve to (4-1, 2-0). Goals tonight by: Chase Taylor, David Boudet (2). https://t.co/KX6eMeeUar".

Murphysboro High School is one of several schools represented within Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186, which also includes Carruthers Elementary School and General John A. Logan Attendance Centre among others (source). According to data from the Illinois State Board of Education, the district employs 147 teachers who earn an average salary of $53,770; nearly three-quarters are women and none have more than ten absences per year (source). The student body is predominantly White at 69 percent but also includes Black (15.9 percent), Hispanic (7.1 percent), and Asian students (source).
