Murphysboro HS celebrates girls' win and boys' second place at cross country invitational

Murphysboro High School has announced notable achievements by its cross country teams at the 2025 Murphysboro Cross Country Invitational, according to a series of posts on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.

On September 3, 2025, Murphysboro HS posted, "Congratulations to our Girls Cross Country team on winning the 2025 Murphysboro Cross Country Invitational! https://t.co/xSF9ObBLfC". Later that evening, another post recognized the boys’ team: "Congratulations to the Murphysboro Boys Cross Country Team on placing 2nd at the 2025 Murphysboro Cross Country Invitational! https://t.co/cZQdFtdJO3".

The following day, on September 4, a third post was shared containing only a link: "https://t.co/1flUxlPKdk".

Murphysboro High School is part of the Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 in Jackson County. The district includes several schools such as Carruthers Elementary School and General John A. Logan Attendance Centre. According to data from the Illinois State Board of Education, District 186 employs 147 teachers with an average salary of $53,770 before pension contributions; approximately three-quarters are women and one-quarter are men. There have been no teachers in the district with more than ten absences in a school year. The student body is composed of approximately 69 percent White students, nearly 16 percent Black students, just over seven percent Hispanic students, and a small percentage of Asian students.
