The 2023-24 Southern Illinois Men's Golf team has been recognized by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as an Outstanding Team Academic Award Recipient, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Salukis were among 59 teams to receive Presidents Special Recognition, awarded to Division I schools that achieved a team GPA of 3.5 or better.
"This award shows just the overall depth of our group academically," Head Coach Justin Fetcho stated. "When you've got a small roster it's hard to hide one or two poor performances."
Additionally, five members of the team were named to the Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar list on July 25.
"Not only were we able to be champions on the golf course, we were able to be champions in the classroom as well," Fetcho added.
