Southern Illinois University's baseball team has announced a new addition to its coaching staff. Ryan McClaran, who previously coached at Louisiana Monroe, has been appointed as the team's pitching coach. Head baseball coach Lance Rhodes expressed enthusiasm about McClaran joining the team, stating, "We're really excited to welcome Ryan and his wife, Brynn, to the Saluki baseball family."

McClaran's tenure at Louisiana Monroe was marked by significant achievements, including helping the team secure 64 wins and developing a pitching staff that led six players to sign Major League Baseball free agent contracts. His staff also set a single-season program record with 471 strikeouts in 2024.

Before his time at Louisiana Monroe, McClaran worked as an assistant coach at Maine for two seasons. In 2022, he played a key role in leading the Black Bears to a successful season with a 27-22 overall record and top seeding in the America East Conference tournament. The team's pitcher Trevor LaBonte earned First-Team All-America East honors under his guidance.

McClaran began his coaching career after serving in the United States Army Infantry. He resides in Carterville with his wife, Brynn.
