City of Genoa Economic Development Commission met June 18.

Here is the agenda provided by the commission:

Nick Bradac called the June 18, 2024 City of Genoa Economic Development Commission Special Meeting to order at 9:00 A.M.

On roll call, members Nick Bradac, Josh Kubiak, DeaLynn Stone, and Carolyn Tobinson were present; Alyssa Seguss, City of Genoa was also present.

The Economic Development Commission moved on to Old Business. Nick Bradac moved and Ms. Tobinson seconded to approve the minutes of the May 15, 2024 meeting. Upon voice vote, all members present said aye.

New Business:

A. Presentation of Members’ and Staff’s Outline of Incubator Program: The EDC continued to discuss various requirements of the proposed Incubator Program including possible locations, application requirements, requirements for “check ins” mid program, and how and when a business “hatches” from the program.

B. Update on Small Business Resources: Char Bradac reported on his research into various local small business resources. The Committee will continue to obtain resources and connections through these programs while elaborating on resources that can be provided to small business owners through the expansion of what can be offered through a incubator program which does not include providing reduced rent in the incubator space, such as coaching, evaluating financials, providing generic legal advice/access to an attorney, etc.

C. Per Square Foot Costs for Commercial Spaces- Tabled in the absence of Matt Hoffman.

D. Updates from the Chair: None at this time.

E. Next Meeting Agenda: At the next meeting on July 9th, conversations will continue regarding the agenda topics above as the EDC fine tunes a proposal for establish an incubator program.

Motion to Adjourn:

There being no further business, Ms. Stone made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:10 AM, seconded by Mr. Kubiak. Upon voice vote, all members present said aye.
