Village of DeSoto Board of Trustees met Sept. 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Acting President Eric Schuler called the first regular monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 P.M. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Present: Tony Rushing Brian Gleason

Paulette Johnson Eric Schuler

Cristy Desormeaux

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Brian Gleason, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motion carried.

Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Tony Rushing, to approve the August Expense report. Motion carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to pay the list of bills. Upon roll call vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

Jennifer Morgan entered the meeting and took her seat at 7:04 PM.

The lift station pump on Highway 51 had unexpectedly burned up and had to be replaced. The cost was $8,376.10. This type of expense was not anticipated and had not been included in the budget. Therefore, it would be necessary to transfer the funds for the Sewer Savings Account to the Sewer Operating to cover the cost and to amend the appropriation ordinance.

Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Tony Rushing, to transfer $8,376.10 from the Sewer Savings Account to the Sewer Operating Account for a lift station pump. Upon roll call vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

After discussing the proposal to paint the walls at the village hall, the Board felt it would not be economically feasible nor necessary to move forward with painting the walls at this time and best to further investigate what should be done for village hall maintenance by committee. More than one estimate will be obtained for future jobs with a spec sheet for what the job entails.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Brian Gleason, to not paint the walls of the village hall. Upon roll call vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

Acting Mayor Eric Schuler appointed a special committee of Trustees Paulette Johnson, Jennifer Morgan and Cristy Desormeaux to investigate village hall maintenance.

Trustee Paulette Johnson stated that she needed information for the newsletter. Trustee Tony Rushing left the meeting at 8:04 PM.

The next regular Village board meeting will be held Monday, September 19, 2022 at 7 PM at the village hall.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to adjourn at 8:07 PM. Motion carried.
