Carbondale Non-Bargaining Unit Employees Personnel Board recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Carbondale would like to alert motorists of an upcoming road construction project along Oakland Avenue from Walnut Street to Chautauqua Road. The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 2, 2020. The reconstruction of Oakland Avenue will be constructed in three phases with the first phase of work being performed from Walnut to Freeman Street and starting at the date mentioned above. This section of Oakland Avenue will be closed to all through traffic while the work is being performed. Access will only be allowed to residents with driveways in the construction area.
Below is a brief description of the work that will be performed:
Removal and replacement of the existing pavement with new concrete pavement and curb and gutters
Dedicated bicycle lanes in each direction
Removal and replacement of the existing sidewalks and driveway aprons
Replacement of the existing storm sewer
