Sallie Logan Public Library Board of Trustees met March 7.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
Vic Harris called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Jeanne Goforth, Don Gladden, Madeline Steimle, Bill Center and Vic Harris
MEMBERS ABSENT: Debbie Martin, Debbie Tindall, Sara Faye Marten, and Jan Kerr
VISITORS PRESENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Loretta Broomfield, Library Director
MINUTES: Don Gladden made a motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. The motion was seconded by Jeanne Goforth. Roll Call Vote: Don Gladden- Aye, Madeline Steimle-Aye, Jeanne Goforth-Aye, Bill Center-Aye. The motion carried.
FINANCIAL REVIEW: All money has now been received from property taxes. The amount received was $1,114.03 less than the levy request.
STATISTICAL REVIEW: It was noted that the number of registered patrons is up.
OLD BUSINESS: Loretta looked into obtaining a less expensive Knox Box but found that the Knox brand is only available from their website. The city ordinance specifies that we must install a box with the Knox brand name. Bill asked if the library would have a key to the box. Loretta responded that only the Murphysboro Fire Department will have a key. Jeanne Goforth made a motion to purchase a Knox Box, as specified in the city ordinance, at the best price available. The motion was seconded by Madeline Steimle. Roll Call Vote: Don Gladden-Aye, Madeline Steimle-Aye, Jeanne Goforth-Aye, Bill Center-Aye. The motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS: All board members in attendance completed and returned a statement of economic interest form.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: Finance Committee was scheduled to meet at 5:00 prior to the regular board meeting but was cancelled due to absences. Finance and/or Personnel will need to meet at 5:00 before the April 4th meeting to discuss how best to deal with the minimum wage increase. Jan had requested a meeting of the Ad hoc gardening committee. Ad hoc will meet in April with a date to be determined.
