Report: Giant City spent $9,312 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Giant City Community Consolidated School District 130 is down 2 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Jackson County school district spent $9,483 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,312 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 255 to 222.

Giant City's spending in 2016-17 was 28 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
