Report: DeSoto spent $10,973 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at DeSoto Consolidated School District 86 is up 0 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Jackson County school district spent $10,934 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,973 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 250 to 212.

DeSoto's spending in 2016-17 was 15 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
