Crab Orchard Public Library District Board met March 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Russ Stoup called the Board of Trustees meeting to order at 6:45 PM. Trustees present were Stoup, Scott Barger, Amanda Barker, Susan Rolf, Cheryl Johnson, and Anita Biver. Library Director Erin Steinsultz was present as well. Trustee Evelyn Barber was absent.

Public Comment: None.

Disposition of Previous Minutes: Johnson made a motion to approve minutes. Barker seconded. Motion carried.

Communications: The library received information from the 100th Illinois General Assembly Illinois Library Association. A message from Lisa Madigan pertaining to the antitrust lawsuit concerning the LCD monitors was received. The library’s portion from that will be $117.93 and will be forthcoming.

Correspondence about the Hamilton County Historical Society’s Illinois Bicentennial celebration was received. Also, the annual agreement from SHARE was received. There will be no change in fees for the library. It will remain at $2109.38.

Report of the Director: In addition to the written report that was submitted, Erin noted that the Trivia Night event brought in $485. The painting class is going great. The purchase of two tables that have adjustable heights has been made. A call was made to Larry Mangan, but there was no call back. There are several odd jobs to do. Shannon’s library sign is ready.

Erin’s sick leave due to her broken foot, subsequent surgery, dr. appointments and etc. was discussed. It was decided that she may work the hours that she is able, including extras so that she will not deplete all of her available sick days.

Financial Report: The financial report was approved and is ready to submit for audit.

Payment of Bills: Barger made a motion to pay $1,125 to Traveler’s Insurance for liability insurance.

Johnson seconded. Motion carried.

Unfinished Business:

a and b) tabled.

c) The Summer Reading Program was a topic of discussion. The theme is “Reading Takes You Everywhere”. Having a Fire Truck on sight for one session is a plan. Our Library plans to partner with Marion’s Carnegie Library for a movie night.

d) tabled.

e) The Library’s computer guy, Tony, was asked about possible increase ability and speed up of WiFi. There are still questions to be asked of Mike Nims of Lazerware.

f) tabled.

g) Erin is working on a change in the hours of operation for the library. There are a few tweaks that will be made.

New Business: No new business at this time.

Closed Session: None.

Adjournment: At 7:29 PM Johnson made a motion to adjourn. Rolf seconded. Motion carried.
