State Representative Dave Severin has expressed his appreciation for local food banks in recognition of National Food Bank Day. Severin, a Republican who was elected to the Illinois State House in 2023 to represent the state's 116th House District, replacing previous state representative David Friess, has collaborated with area food banks to address hunger and increased food costs for working families.
“I want to thank all those volunteers and professionals who work every day to provide food for hungry southern Illinoisans,” Severin said. “I encourage anyone who can to make regular donations to area food banks. If you can’t give, I would ask you to consider volunteering for one of the many great organizations throughout southern Illinois.”
He highlighted that several local food banks serve the region, including Franklin-Williamson food pantries, Hamilton County food pantries, Southeastern Illinois Food Pantries, Southern Seven Food Pantries, and Southern Illinois Food Pantry Network.
