Elkville ranked 400th in state in lottery ticket sales for April 2016

The Village of Elkville had the 400th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of April 2016 -- up 1 spot from its March ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Elkville was $18.85 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Carbondale Reporter, Elkville generated $17,043 in net sales from its one lottery retailer in April 2016, compared to $14,059.50 in April 2015.

The Village of Elkville is in Jackson County, and has a population of 904, according to 2010 census data.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in April 2016 was $15,106.72.

Elkville's top lottery retailer is Caseys Gen Store #1727 located at 400 N 4th St, Elkville, IL 62932.

Caseys Gen Store #1727 generated 100 percent of Elkville's April 2016 lottery ticket sales and 4 percent of Jackson County's sales that month, which was $513,628.50.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Jackson County in 2015 were Murphysboro, De Soto, Elkville, Grand Tower and Ava.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
