Murphysboro HS announces Red Devils boys soccer team awards for Starrick, Guetersloh, Garcia

Murphysboro High School announced the recipients of several boys soccer team awards on November 13, 2025, via its official Twitter account.

The school first recognized Shane Starrick for his defensive performance with the Shutout Award. The tweet stated, "Red Devils Boys Soccer Shutout Award goes to Shane Starrick!" (posted November 13, 2025).

Shortly after, Nolan Guetersloh was named as the recipient of the Newcomer Award. The school posted, "Red Devils Boys Soccer Newcomer Award goes to Nolan Guetersloh" (posted November 13, 2025).

The final award mentioned in the series went to Sergio Garcia for his effort and work rate. The tweet read, "Red Devils Boys Soccer Hustle Award goes to Sergio Garcia!" (posted November 13, 2025).

Murphysboro High School is part of Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 in Jackson County. The district encompasses several schools including Carruthers Elementary School and Murphysboro Middle School. According to the Illinois State Board of Education, the district employs 147 teachers with an average salary of $53,770 and maintains a diverse student population that is approximately 69 percent White, nearly 16 percent Black, and just over seven percent Hispanic (source). In fiscal year 2020, per-student spending was reported at $19,142 for a total expenditure exceeding $37 million (source).
