Murphysboro High School, representing the Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 in Jackson County, shared updates and announcements on its official X (formerly Twitter) account regarding upcoming athletic events.

On September 8, 2025, Murphysboro High School posted a promotional message for an upcoming football game: "Murphysboro High School vs. Sparta High School. Watch Boys Sophomore Football Monday, Sep 8th, 2025 at 6:00 PM CDT on the NFHS Network!

The district serves a diverse student population that is approximately 69 percent White, 15.9 percent Black, 7.1 percent Hispanic, and 0.1 percent Asian (source).
