Flood warning for Ohio River at Cairo remains until April 24

The National Water Prediction Service of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced that a Flood Warning remains in effect for the Ohio River at Cairo, Illinois. The flood is currently at a moderate level, with the water expected to crest on Wednesday and start to slowly decrease.

The Flood Warning will remain in place until Thursday, April 24. According to NOAA, "Flood stage is 40.0 feet." On Tuesday, at 11:00 AM CDT, the river's height was recorded at 52.3 feet. The river peaked at 52.5 feet in the previous 24 hours.

Predictions indicate the river will drop below flood stage by Wednesday, April 23, and will continue to recede to 34.1 feet by Friday, April 25.
