Southern Illinois University's softball team is set to host Missouri State in a mid-week series at Charlotte West Stadium. The games are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, with live results and streaming available for both days.

The Salukis, who have a record of 11-14 overall and 3-0 in conference play, recently swept Illinois State in their opening weekend of Missouri Valley Conference action. In the first game against Illinois State, Southern Illinois secured a narrow 1-0 victory with Emily Williams driving in the sole run. Pitchers Emma Gipson and McKenzie Newcomb combined efforts to shut out their opponents.

In the second game, Southern Illinois claimed a 3-0 win. RBIs were contributed by Williams, Erin Lee, and Addi Baker. Kiana McDowell and Newcomb continued their strong pitching performance by allowing only six hits collectively.

The final game of the series saw Southern Illinois triumph over Illinois State with an 8-4 scoreline. Williams played a key role again with three runs batted in and a home run. Maleah Blomenkamp and Anna Carder also had multiple RBIs each as Newcomb secured her third consecutive win by striking out five batters in two innings.

Southern Illinois leads the historical series against Missouri State with a record of 60 wins to 52 losses. Last season, they won two out of three matchups against Missouri State.

Missouri State enters this series with an overall record of 4-19 but remains undefeated in conference play at 3-0 after sweeping UIC last week. Despite struggling earlier this season with fourteen consecutive losses before facing UIC, they managed decisive victories during that series.
