U.S. Representative Mike Bost has announced that St. Clair and Washington counties are set to receive $89.5 million in federal disaster aid. This funding is aimed at supporting recovery efforts following severe storms and tornadoes that occurred in mid-July. The aid was included in the government spending bill passed in December and will be managed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Representative Bost stated, "I was proud to support legislation that provides disaster relief to the people of St. Clair and Washington counties following last summer’s devastating storms." He emphasized the importance of this funding for rebuilding infrastructure and enhancing defenses against future weather-related incidents.
Bost further noted, "At a time when folks are working to restore their damaged homes and communities, I’m glad they will have the resources necessary to speed the process along."
