Voters should have the power to choose their elected officials, but according to some, the recent political maps drawn by Democrats in Illinois have been gerrymandered to an extent that they silence millions of voices. In response, a lawsuit has been filed against these maps with the Illinois Supreme Court. The aim is to challenge what are claimed to be unconstitutional boundaries.

In addition to legal action, legislation has been introduced proposing the creation of an independent commission. This body would be responsible for drawing congressional and legislative district maps, removing this power from incumbent politicians.

A call to action encourages citizens who believe in fair mapmaking processes to sign a petition supporting these changes. More information can be found on the state-sponsored website dedicated to this cause.
