The Southern Illinois University (SIU) women's basketball team is set to face Evansville on Sunday. The game, which will take place at 1 p.m., is part of the Salukis' ongoing road swing. SIU enters the match with a record of 3-11 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

Fans can watch the game on ESPN+ with Scott Warmann providing play-by-play commentary and Laura Leonard serving as an analyst. Larry Larson will cover the radio broadcast duties on NewsRadio WJPF 107.9 FM.

Southern Illinois recently secured its first Missouri Valley Conference win of the season by defeating Indiana State, 63-58. This victory marked their first conference win since March 2024. In that game, Gift Uchenna had a standout performance with 17 rebounds, marking her sixth game this season with at least 15 rebounds.

Despite their recent win, SIU ranks ninth in scoring defense within the conference and holds a league record tied with Valpo and UIC at 1-4. Offensively, they are positioned twelfth in points per game.

Gift Uchenna continues to lead the Salukis with impressive statistics, including an average of 15.1 points and 13 rebounds per game. She also ranks high nationally in rebounding and blocks per game.

Kayla Cooper has shown improvement by scoring double figures in four out of her last seven games. Meanwhile, Se'Quoia Allmond missed her fourth game of the season due to absence from the lineup since early December.

Evansville currently sits at twelfth place in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with an overall record of 4-12 and a conference record of 0-5. The Purple Aces lost their most recent matchup against Missouri State.

Historically, Southern Illinois holds a favorable record against Evansville with a series lead of 41-29 all-time. However, Evansville's last victory over SIU was in February 2024.
