Brothers Tim and Matthew Simay led Southern Illinois University to a 10-3 triumph over Lindenwood in a non-conference game on Tuesday at Itchy Jones Stadium. The Simay brothers combined for seven hits and three RBIs, driving the team's offense.

Tim Simay delivered an impressive performance, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Matthew Simay also excelled, achieving a 4-for-4 record at the plate, driving in one run, and scoring twice, contributing significantly to the Salukis' offense.

Southern Illinois, with a record of 31-13, overcame an initial setback by scoring two runs in the second inning. This included a bases-loaded walk by Matt Schark and an RBI single from Jaxon Holder. Holder finished with three hits and a double, also adding an RBI to his statistics.

The Salukis continued to strengthen their lead, scoring runs in five consecutive innings from the fourth to the eighth. A notable contribution came from Michael Mylott, who hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning, marking his seventh homer of the season.

Throughout the game, the Simay brothers were pivotal in most scoring opportunities. Tim Simay's RBI double in the fourth inning broke a 2-2 tie, and his next double in the sixth extended Southern Illinois' lead. Matthew Simay's RBI double in the eighth inning concluded the scoring.

The pitching functions were efficiently handled, with SIU employing a bullpen-heavy strategy that limited Lindenwood, whose record is now 22-23. Blaine Harpenau secured the win with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, while starter Gavan Wernsing managed three innings, allowing two runs.

Lindenwood held momentary leads thanks to a double from Tyler Ellis and a home run by Jake Radosevich, who concluded the game 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Michael Walsh took the loss, conceding the go-ahead run during his 2.1 innings of relief.

Southern Illinois is preparing for a conference game against Murray State starting Friday.
