The Southern Illinois swimming and diving team made a strong start at the Purdue Invite, setting three program records on the first day of competition. The event took place in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Celia Pulido set a new program record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.58 during the preliminary session. Additionally, Pulido teamed up with Olivia Herron, Bea Padron, and Susana Hernandez to set records in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard medley relay.

In preliminary events, Joshua Aceves and Tomas Peciar qualified for the "A" finals in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing fifth and seventh. Olivia Herron claimed first place in the 200-yard individual medley (IM) with a time of 1:58.87. Liseska Gallegos and Brooklyn Anderson also reached the "A" finals, placing sixth and eighth. Henrique Pacheco finished third in the men's race with a time of 1:48.70.

In the men's 50-yard freestyle preliminaries, Alex Santiago took first place with a time of 19.47, while Donut Csuvarszki finished third. Willem Huggins and AJ Terry placed sixth and seventh respectively. In women's competition, Pulido achieved a second-place finish while Hernandez secured an eighth-place spot.

During finals, Pulido's team set another program record in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.21. The men's team consisting of Huggins, Tiago Faleiros, Nico Lanuza, and Terry finished third in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:12.07.

Peciar placed fourth in the final round of the 500-yard freestyle followed by Aceves who came fifth. Herron continued her success by securing first place in the women's 200-yard IM finals with an NCAA "B" standard time of 1:57.70; Gallegos finished fifth while Anderson came eighth.

Santiago won first place again in his category during men's finals for the 50-yard freestyle clocking at an NCAA "B" standard time of 19.45; Csuvarszki ended third at this event timing at exactly twenty seconds eleven milliseconds (20:11). Meanwhile among women competitors Hernandez was sixth whilst Zaria Terry ended eighth within their heat lineup

Pulido along with teammates once more dominated over opposition as they clinched victory setting both new Missouri Valley Conference alongside Southern Illinois own benchmarks via winning run recorded down under just one minute thirty-seven seconds flat (1:37).
