Southern Illinois hosts UIC for dual swim meet this Saturday

The Southern Illinois University (SIU) swimming and diving teams are set to host the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) on Saturday, October 26, at Shea Natatorium. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

The SIU women's team enters the competition undefeated, having secured victories against McKendree and Missouri State. In their last outing against Missouri State, they achieved 15 first-place finishes. In diving events, Farida Moussa excelled in the 1-meter dive, while Corrin Williams led in the 3-meter dive.

The men's team from SIU is still seeking its first win of the season. Alex Santiago stood out in their previous meet against Missouri State with two first-place finishes. In diving, Oliver Mebs recorded an NCAA Zone qualifying score of 340.58 points in the 3-meter event, and Lee Haywood achieved a qualifying score of 319.80 points in the 1-meter dive.

UIC's men's team recently opened their season with a victory over Ball State, winning by a margin of 156.5-143.5. UIC's men's divers dominated both the 1-meter and 3-meter events against Ball State, while their women's divers secured two top-five scores.

This upcoming meet marks the ninth encounter between the men's teams and the seventh for the women's teams from these institutions. Southern Illinois leads both series with a record of 1-0.
