FOIA Request Sent to City of Carbondale Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024

FOIA Request to City of Carbondale Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our continuous efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Carbondale Reporter have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

Our request specifically pertains to all parking violations currently unpaid within the jurisdiction of the City of Carbondale. We have asked for detailed information including the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that by shedding light on these unpaid parking violations, we can encourage greater compliance with city regulations and promote responsible citizenship.

We are hopeful that our request will be granted without any fees as we qualify for a fee waiver being a media professional. We await a positive response from the City Clerk's office as we continue our work in providing transparency to the public.

Should there be any questions or clarifications needed regarding our request, we are open for communication and look forward to facilitating this process in any way possible.
