FOIA Request Sent to City of Creal Springs Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the City of Creal Springs concerning unpaid parking violations on October 28, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at Carbondale Reporter have requested a comprehensive list of all current unpaid parking violations. The requested information includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due.

The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. We have asked for this information to be provided in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.

As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that as a media organization disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under the FOIA provisions for media professionals.

We will continue to follow up on this request and provide updates as they become available.
