Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball faced a challenging weekend, ending with a split result. After a victory against Valparaiso on Friday night, the team was swept by UIC in Chicago on Saturday. This outcome leaves the Salukis with a 2-5 record in Missouri Valley Conference play.

UIC, now standing at 13-6 overall and 5-2 in the MVC, maintained control throughout the first two sets of the match. However, Southern Illinois showed resilience during set three. Despite taking an early lead and maintaining it through most of the set, controversy arose towards the end. A disputed call after a video review shifted momentum back to UIC, allowing them to secure a comeback win in set three and ultimately sweep the match.

Annabelle Sulish led Southern Illinois with ten kills, while Cecilia Bulmahn made significant contributions with seven aces—tying for third-most in Saluki history for a single match.

Looking ahead, Southern Illinois will continue their road trip within the MVC as they face Evansville on Friday, October 18.
