Eva Krakowski of Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
A native of Roselle, Illinois, Krakowski had an impressive week in her freshman season. She recorded 17 kills and eight blocks in a win over UT Martin on Tuesday. On Saturday, she added another 10 kills against Lindenwood, marking her first consecutive games with double-digit kills.
Krakowski and the Salukis achieved a 2-1 record over the past week. They secured a comeback victory against UT Martin and had a 1-1 split at the Lindenwood Invitational, where they lost to Lindenwood in five sets but swept Austin Peay.
Krakowski joins teammates Cecilia Bulmahn (2022, twice) and Ema Stermenska (2023) as active Salukis who have received this honor.
Southern Illinois will host the Saluki Invitational starting Thursday, with three matches scheduled for the weekend.
