Southern Illinois Volleyball prepares for midweek clash against UT Martin

Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball is set to face UT Martin in their first midweek match of the season on Tuesday, September 10, at 6 p.m. in Martin, Tennessee.

The Salukis recently participated in the Saluki Bash, where they recorded one win and two losses. They were defeated by Jackson State and Eastern Illinois with scores of 3-1 and 3-0 respectively but secured a victory against Memphis with a score of 3-2.

Historically, Southern Illinois leads the all-time series against UT Martin with a record of 17-3. Their most recent encounter was in 2023 when the Salukis triumphed over the Skyhawks with a 3-0 win in Carbondale. The Salukis have won eight consecutive matches in this series, with UT Martin's last victory dating back to 2011.

Key players for Southern Illinois include Larissa Seger, who ranks third in the Missouri Valley Conference for hitting percentage at 35.6% and eighth in blocks per set (0.91). Cecilia Bulmahn stands tenth in service aces per set (0.38) and ninth in digs per set (3.67). Kelly Franklin achieved a career-high with 19 kills during Friday's win over Memphis. Annabelle Sulish and Ema Stermenska each have three double-doubles within six games played this season. Additionally, Anna Jaworski has advanced to fifth place in SIU history for career assists, now totaling 3,271.
