Eastern Illinois sweeps Southern Illinois in final match of Saluki Bash

Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball concluded its participation in the Saluki Bash with a 3-0 loss to Eastern Illinois on Saturday at the Banterra Center in Carbondale.

Eastern Illinois' Katie Kopshever led her team with 18 kills, significantly more than any other player on her squad. Southern Illinois' Annabelle Sulish recorded her third double-double of the season, contributing 10 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Eva Krakowski added five kills and three blocks from the middle.

The first set was tightly contested, featuring 12 ties and four lead changes, but Eastern Illinois managed to secure it. The second set saw prolonged runs from both teams, ending with a 25-22 victory for Eastern Illinois, giving them a 2-0 match lead. In the third set, Eastern Illinois took an early lead of 7-3 and maintained their momentum, finishing with seven consecutive points to complete the sweep.

Eastern Illinois ended the tournament with a perfect record of 3-0. Jackson State, Memphis, and Southern Illinois each finished with a record of 1-2. For detailed results, visit the Tournament Central page.

Southern Illinois will next face UT Martin on Tuesday, September 10 at 6 p.m.
