Here is the agenda provided by the board:
Persons who do not plan to attend the meeting in person and wish to make a public comment can do so by submitting their public comments ahead of the meeting to Dr. Lori James-Gross, Superintendent, via e-mail at ljgross@up140.org with the subject “Public Comments for 8/15/24 Board Meeting.” These submitted comments will be read aloud during the meeting per Board Policy.
The Zoom broadcast will begin around 5:50 p.m. ahead of the Board Meeting at 6:00 p.m. to allow everyone who may wish to join time to work out any technical difficulties. The Board of Education will end the Zoom broadcast after officially adjourning the meeting.

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Unity Point School District #140 will be held in the Library at Unity Point School on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 6:00 PM. An Executive Session will be held during the meeting to consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body and matters of pending litigation.

Recognition of Guests and Visitors/Public Comment
The Board of Education welcomes the audience to make public or employee comments. The Board has set aside time in the agenda specifically for this purpose. Pursuant to Board Policy 2.230, each speaker shall be limited to a 5-minute presentation. Please be aware that while this is the time for the public to express its opinions and concerns, the Board may or may not comment regarding public presentations. If a matter of public comment warrants discussion or action of the Board of Education, such discussion or action will be added to the agenda for a future meeting.

Presentation of Tentative Budget for FY25
*The FY25 TENTATIVE budget is enclosed for your review. It will remain on review until the Budget Hearing on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Mrs. Brown will provide further explanation of the budget process during the meeting. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Brown.
Adopt Resolution for Public Hearing for FY25 Budget
*The board will need to adopt the enclosed resolution for a public hearing to review the proposed budget. The Budget Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Unity Point School Library.
Presentation of the First Reading of PRESS Policies Update—Issue 116
*IASB PRESS Plus Policy Services has provided the August 2024 Issue 116 of PRESS Plus with the most recent policy updates for Board consideration. The policy updates will be on review until the time of the second reading and approval at the September 2024 board meeting.
