U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) has called for the resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle following an assassination attempt against President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

"In providing testimony to the House Oversight Committee today, Director Cheatle left members of both parties infuriated by her evasiveness. And what could she say? There’s simply no excuse for leaving America’s leading presidential candidate and thousands of rallygoers vulnerable to an assassin’s bullet. The American people deserve accountability for this unprecedented breach of security, and for that reason, Director Cheatle should resign her position effective immediately," stated Bost.

The call for resignation comes amid heightened scrutiny over the security measures provided during political events.
