State Representative Dave Severin (R-Benton) announced an extension for the deadline to complete and return forms for his 2024 “Oceans of Possibilities” summer reading program. Students who read eight books this summer and submit their forms by Friday, July 12, will be invited to a free pool party at the Mt. Vernon Aquatic Zoo on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Details will be provided upon submission of completed forms.

“We will have a great time hosting a pool party for the students who successfully participate in the program. I welcome all incoming 1st through 4th graders in the 116th district to participate,” Severin said. “We have had great participation in the program so far, and we are now extending our deadline so that as many students that wish to join my summer reading club as possible can do just that!”

The Oceans of Possibilities Magic summer reading club challenges 1st through 4th graders to read eight books during their summer break. Books from local library programs are also acceptable, and books over 150 pages may count as two books. Once a student completes reading eight books, a parent or guardian can verify that the books were read by submitting their summer reading form via mail to 303 N. Main Street, Benton, IL 62812.

Students can inquire about the program by calling (618) 440-5090 or emailing Severin@ILHouseGOP.org. A digital form may be completed and submitted by visiting RepSeverin.com/summer-reading.
