Recognition of Guests and Visitors/Public Comment

The Board of Education welcomes the audience to make public or employee comments. The Board has set aside time in the agenda specifically for this purpose. Pursuant to Board Policy 2.230, each speaker shall be limited to a 5-minute presentation. Please be aware that while this is the time for the public to express its opinions and/or concerns, the Board may or may not comment regarding public presentations. If a matter of public comment warrants discussion or action of the Board of Education, such discussion or action will be added to the agenda for a future meeting.

Superintendent Search Update

* Jim Helton, IASB, will provide an update regarding the ongoing superintendent search process.

IASB 2024 Resolutions Process

*The IASB Delegate Assembly will be held in conjunction with the Triple I Conference on November 22-24, 2024, to conduct the Association's annual business. The decisions of the Delegate Assembly regarding proposed resolutions determine the direction of IASB. The deadline to submit resolutions is June 26, 2024. Board member Elizabeth Mackenbach is proposing a revised resolution that would consider using the IL-DCFS (Illinois Department of Child and Family Services) CANTS (Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System) as a means to fulfill the Employment History Review (105 ILCS 5/22-94) of Faith’s Law.

Award Bid for Diesel Fuel

*Hines Oil Company was the only bid received for fuel. The fuel bid does contain an escalator feature, as we would expect. The price quoted for diesel fuel is $3.3980, an overall decrease of $0.085 from last year’s cost of $3.4830. The administration recommends approval of the fuel bid as presented.

Award Bid for Electric Supply

*Michelle Brown, Business Manager, recommends a 1-year contract with Constellation to provide our electrical needs. The offset of our solar project is expected to be 68%, meaning the district will still need to utilize 32% of the electricity from an electric company. A summary of the bids has been provided for your review. The Superintendent recommends that the board approve the recommendation as presented.

Handbook revisions have been reviewed since the May board meeting. The administration has not received any inquiries, comments, or questions relating to the updates; therefore, it is the administration's recommendation to approve the revisions as presented for the 2024-2025 school year.

*2024-2025 Proposed Student/Parent Handbook Revisions

-Enclosed are additional proposed changes for the Student/Parent Handbook for the 2024-2025 school year. The administration will present any final changes during the July board meeting with the expectation of final approval.
