Persons who do not plan to attend the meeting in person and wish to make a public comment can do so by submitting their public comments ahead of the meeting to Dr. Lori James-Gross, Superintendent, via e-mail at ljgross@up140.org with the subject “Public Comments for 3/21/24 Board Meeting.” These submitted comments will be read aloud during the meeting in accordance with Board Policy.
The Zoom broadcast will begin around 5:50 p.m. ahead of the regular meeting at 6:00 p.m. to allow everyone who may wish to join time to work out any technical difficulties. The Board of Education will end the Zoom broadcast after officially adjourning the meeting.

Regular Board of Education Meeting
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Unity Point School District #140 will be held in the Library at Unity Point School on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 6:00 PM. An Executive Session will be held during the meeting to consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body and matters of pending litigation. Board action on items discussed in closed session is anticipated.

Recognition of Guests and Visitors/Public Comment
The Board of Education welcomes the audience to make public or employee comments. The Board has set aside time in the agenda specifically for this purpose. Pursuant to Board Policy 2.230, each speaker shall be limited to a 5-minute presentation. Please be aware that while this is the time for the public to express its opinions and/or concerns, the Board may or may not comment regarding public presentations. If a matter of public comment warrants discussion or action of the Board of Education, such discussion or action will be added to the agenda for a future meeting.
Amendment of School Calendar for 2023-2024
*Considering we have utilized only one e-learning day in lieu of an inclement weather day this winter, the last day of student attendance is scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2024. The final Teacher’s Institute will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, and 8th Grade Graduation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024. In the event of future inclement weather days, additional student attendance days will be added to the end of the calendar.

2024-2025 Proposed School Calendar
*The proposed 2024-2025 school calendar is enclosed for your review. The Continuous Improvement Team, UPEA Calendar Committee, building administration, and secretarial staff reviewed the proposed calendar. The administration recommends that the calendar be approved as presented.
