State Representative Dave Severin of Benton participated in an interview on WJPF’s Morning Newswatch with Tom Miller. During the session, Severin discussed the recent legislative activities and budget decisions.
“It was great to be on Newsradio WJPF this morning to talk about all things budget and end of session," Severin stated. He expressed concerns over the fiscal decisions made by Democrats, highlighting significant tax hikes, fee increases, and borrowing from special funds amounting to over $1 billion to support what he described as a record spending budget.
Severin criticized certain allocations within the budget, mentioning that "Democrats voted for over $1 billion in tax hikes, fee increases, and borrowing from special funds." He also noted pay raises for lawmakers and funding for projects in Democratic districts. Specifically, he pointed out that Speaker Welch included a substantial allocation: “Speaker Welch put a line item in the budget of FORTY MILLION DOLLARS to build a sports complex at his alma mater high school.”
Rep. Severin emphasized his opposition by stating, "I VOTED NO."
