State Representative Dave Severin has spoken out about the ongoing delays in the issuance of professional licenses in Illinois. At a Capitol news conference, Rep. Severin highlighted the frustrations faced by Illinoisans who have completed all requirements but are still unable to work due to delays at the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
"Dozens and dozens of my constituents have called in the last year or so and have experienced long-ranging delays in receiving their licenses, even though they have done all that is required of them by the State," said Rep. Severin. He also emphasized his proactive approach in engaging with the Department's leadership to address these issues.
In collaboration with House Republican Leader Tony McCombie and State Representative Dr. Bill Hauter, Rep. Severin and his colleagues have introduced a comprehensive legislative package to tackle the licensing delays. The proposed bills aim to reduce delays, improve efficiency, and ensure timely issuance of licenses to professionals in Illinois.
The legislative efforts include measures such as accepting online payments, lowering licensure costs, implementing license reciprocity, and streamlining licensing processes for various professions. Additionally, the proposed bills seek to create task forces to gather information on licensure delays and explore ways to enhance licensing procedures for healthcare professionals, cosmetologists, barbers, and other professionals.
Through these initiatives, Rep. Severin and his House Republican colleagues are striving to address the challenges faced by individuals seeking professional licenses in Illinois. Their focus on improving the licensing process reflects a commitment to supporting Illinoisans in their pursuit of meaningful employment opportunities.
