WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Bost (IL-12) has announced the commencement of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition, extending an invitation to high school students from Illinois’ 12th Congressional District to participate. The competition, established by Congress in 1982, offers young artists from all 50 states a platform to display their creative prowess.

"Every spring, I enjoy seeing the artwork that our talented Southern Illinois high school students create for the Congressional Art Competition," expressed Bost. "This competition gives them a great opportunity to showcase their skills, and I encourage students to participate."

The Congressional Art Competition serves as a stage to acknowledge and nurture artistic abilities both nationally and within the Congressional District. The winning piece from the District's competition will have the honor of being exhibited in the U.S. Capitol for a year.

Judging of the submissions will be carried out by members of the local art community, with the deadline for participation forms set for April 26, 2024. For detailed guidelines and necessary student release forms to partake in the 2024 competition, interested individuals can refer to Congressman Bost’s website or contact his office at (618) 457-5787.
