State Senator Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) has announced the relaunch of her annual "Valentines for Seniors" card drive, aimed at bringing joy and comfort to local senior citizens. Sen. Bryant sees this initiative as an opportunity for communities to demonstrate their love and appreciation for the elderly residents in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and long-term care homes throughout the 58th Senate District.

In a statement, Sen. Bryant expressed her hope that "by sharing our creativity and compassion, we can brighten the day of those residing in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and long-term care homes throughout the 58th Senate District."

To achieve this goal, Sen. Bryant is calling on students, scout groups, churches, and other organizations to participate in creating homemade cards that will be delivered to the designated facilities. The cards can be mailed or dropped off at Sen. Bryant's district offices until February 5th. The offices are located at 1032 W. Industrial Park Road in Murphysboro and 2929 Broadway Street, Suite 3 in Mt. Vernon. For those dropping off cards in-person, there is a marked mailbox inside the offices where the cards can be placed during normal business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Sen. Bryant's office has provided contact information for any questions regarding the Valentines for Seniors program. Interested individuals can reach out by calling 618-684-1100 or emailing Kathy at kwills62950@gmail.com.

This heartfelt initiative not only provides an opportunity for communities to show their love and support for their elderly neighbors but also serves as a reminder of the importance of intergenerational connections and acts of kindness. As Valentine's Day approaches, let us all join Sen. Bryant in spreading love and joy to our local seniors through the power of a simple homemade card.
