Village of De Soto Board of Trustees met April 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Acting President Eric Schuler called the first regular monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 P.M. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Present : Brian Gleason    Paulette Johnson

Eric Schuler        Jennifer Morgan

Absent:   Tony Rushing      Cristy Desormeaux

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Brian Gleason, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motion carried.

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Brian Gleason, to approve the March expense report.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to pay the list of bills. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to approved the sales agreement with Nicole Doty for the sale of the vacant lot at 100 N Hickory St. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Brian Gleason, to table discussion of the sales agreement with Emma Brown for the sale of the lots at 213 and 215 N. Walnut St. (Agenda Item 6a) until the next board meeting. The sales agreement has not been prepared by the attorney yet.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to hire Eric Howard as a full-time police officer at $20 per hour, beginning April 7, 2023. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Brian Gleason, to approve the Village budget for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2023, and ending April 30, 2024. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes. Motion carried.

The Park Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, April 8 beginning at 10:00 AM.

The De Soto Little League, Beta Club and volunteers cleaned the park last week. Thanks to all who participated.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to pass Resolution 2023-2 Adopting the Jackson County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes. Motion carried.

The next board meeting will be held on Monday, April 17 at 7 PM at the village hall.

Motion made by Brin Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to adjourn at 7:38 PM. Motion carried.
