Village of De Soto Board of Trustees met March 6.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Acting President Eric Schuler called the first regular monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 P.M. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motion carried.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to approve the February expense report. Motion carried.

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to pay the list of bills. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

Brett and Allison Sutphin were present to follow up on their complaint of livestock being in the village limits. Chief Ben Doan said that Heather Frakes-Campbell said the livestock are outside the village limits. He explained that with just looking at the maps, it is difficult to determine the property line without the property pin. Chief Doan further explained that nothing could be done until that determination is made. He is continuing to investigate the matter.

Jack Wilson, Caleb Johnson and Brandy Parkhill were present to discuss having a small daytime music and art festival for all ages at the park. They are a non-profit organization, Something for All. The event will be free for attendees. Proceeds from the event, such as vendor rental fees, would be given to a fund that would benefit the community.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Jennifer Morgan, to allow Something for All to rent the park pavilion on April 23, 2023, for a music and art festival and to waive the rental fee. Upon roll vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

Diamante Jackson of Southern Cremation and Mortuary Services was present to express his interest in purchasing the lots at 213 and 215 N. Walnut St. Mr. Jackson wants to build a funeral home on the property. The Board asked Mr. Jackson to submit an offer in writing because someone else was interested in purchasing the property.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to accept the offer from Nicole of Ace of Fades to purchase the lot at 100 N. Hickory St. for $5,000.00 and to move forward with the sale. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Eric Schuler – Yes; Jennifer Morgan – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

Maria Flores was not present with an offer to purchase the lots at 213 and 215 N. Walnut St.

Motion made by Jennifer Morgan, seconded by Brian Gleason, to table discussion on Agenda Item 6-a, Maria Flores-offer to purchase the lots at 213 and 215 N. Walnut St. until the next board meeting. Motion carried.

Mrs. Flores will be given the opportunity to submit a written offer. Submitted offers will be reviewed at the next meeting..

Trustee Jennifer Morgan left the meeting at 7:59 PM

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to adjourn at 8:17 PM. Motion carried.
